FAQ
1. Will Photosense travel out of town or province to shoot my portraits or other photo event?
Yes. Hotel and travel costs will be applied if required and will be bill on top of our normal photography rates. The details would be discussed with you prior to committing to the event.
2. Do you have a studio?
Yes. We own and operate our own professional, complete in-house studio.
3. Do you shoot black and white?
Yes, however the majority of our shooting is done in colour. We are now 100%
digital. We can turn any digital colour image into black and white at a mimial
charge to you. You could have the same print in colour and also in black & white.
4. Do you do shoot with digital cameras or use film?
We work with top quality digital cameras. We made the switch
once we were convinced that the digital images were high enough
resolution to be comparable to film. We still have film, but
we only use that as back up. Our digital equipment will allow
us to make up to 30 x 40 prints of the same quality that we
would get when we shot with our medium format film camera's.
5. What happens with the negatives or digital files after the photo shoot?
The digital files and or negatives are kept on file by the
studio for three years. They are copy right and the property
of Dave Robinet. We do not release the digital files as they
are protected by Canadian copy right laws. They are the property
of the photographer, for the same reason as scanning or copying
your proofs from your photo session is illegal.
6. What format do you shoot with?
We shoot 100% digital. The format is housed in a camera body
that looks very similar to a 35 mm SLR camera body. Our digital
camera's and equipement are all of top quality. We get a very
high quality digital files that we can make high degree of
enlargements from.
7. Is retouching included in the price
of your portraits?
Most retouching is included in the price of our portraits
and includes the removal of blemishes and general enhancement
of skin tone. If extensive retouching is required we will quote
you on it first. Retouching that you would expect additional
fees on are: The removal of tattoo's, age lines, stretch marks,
removing items or people from the background, creating double
exposure overlays, and more.
8. Do you make proofs and if so, what
happens with the proofs?
In most cases, we don''t make proofs, with the exception
of weddings. For portraits, we will either have you come to
the studio to view your images on our computer or display them
on our website. Our website is designed so that you are given
a personal client log-in and password. Only you and the people
that you give the passwords to would be able to view your images.
You can order right from the client viewing system. For weddings,
once your final wedding order is complete, we give you all
of the proofs to keep. For portrait sessions, if proofs are
produced, they are made to assist you in making your selections.
They must be returned to the studio with your order and are
protected by Canadian Copyright laws. They remain the property
of Dave Robinet & Photosense. If you wish to purchase the
proofs, a price would be negotiated at that time.
9. Why is a print laminated and what does it do?
Once the retouching is done, the print is laminated with a
clear lamination that goes on top of the print. It provides
the type of finish that you want on your print and it also
has an ultraviolet inhibitor built into it. This helps extend
the life of your print for many years beyond what you might
normally expect. When the lamination is applied you can also
get away without putting glass over your print.
10. Are there times that you would laminate
a print and still put glass in front?
Yes. If we are putting a lamination that has no texture to
it, on your print and the print is being matted in addition
to being framed, then we would put glass in your frame. Any
portrait that has a mat added to the print/frame combination,
it should have glass added to it.
11. If you shoot digital, are the images
colour or black and white?
We shoot all of our digital images in colour. Any colour digital
image can be converted to black and white. Once we convert
the image to black and white, we can have it printed as a conventional
black and white image or give it a sepia tone look.
